JANUARY 2008 Henkel elected to Niceville City Council NICEVILLE, FL - Daniel Henkel has been elected to the Niceville City Council after collecting 21 more votes than Roger Noel.Henkel collected 303 votes against Noel’s 282 votes in the runoff election held January 17. The men were running for the seat left vacant by long-time Councilman Terry Tislow, who died in October. A runoff election was held because none of the candidates took more than 50 percent of the votes cast in the Jan. 3 special election. In that election, 170 votes were cast for Noel and 166 for Henkel. The remaining votes were split among three other candidates. Henkel, 51, is a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and Eglin Air Force Base contractor. Less than seven percent of Niceville’s 9,100 registered voters cast ballots in the election. |
