John Sims Parkway road project in final phase

NICEVILLE, FL -The third and final phase of the $12.6 million John Sims Parkway improvement project began in late January 2008. Eastbound traffic between Government Avenue and Armstrong Street is shifted to the newly constructed travel lane, freeing up the center portion of the roadway for median construction and final drainage improvements.

Four lanes of traffic remain open on the parkway and access to commercial properties is being maintained during business hours.

Plans are to complete the project this spring.
When the project is completed the east and westbound travel lanes will be separated by a raised median. The median will restrict left turns to “median cuts” and signalized intersections.
Four median cuts (two on either side of the Boggy Bayou Bridge) and two signalized intersections are in place along the 1.1-mile section of John Sims Parkway.
