Special election Jan. 3 in Niceville

NICEVILLE, FLORIDA - A special election will be held Jan. 3, 2008 in Niceville to complete the term of office held by City Councilman Terry Tislow, who died Oct. 12.

Candidates must qualify between noon on Tuesday, December 11 and noon on Friday, Dec. 14. Candidates should file their paperwork with city clerk Dan Doucet.

Qualifying candidates must live in Niceville, be a registered voter and present a petition signed by five registered voters who live in Niceville. Candidates must also sign a candidate’s oath, loyalty oath, appoint a campaign treasurer and provide a financial statement.

Niceville residents wishing to vote in the special election must be registered with the Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections by Dec. 5, 2007.

The winner of the special election will complete Tislow’s term, which expires July 21, 2009.
